FOOD CO-OP

June 9, 2023

We have supported the establishment of a food Co-op open to the community in and around the Alexandra & Ainsworth estate. The Co-op utilises collective buying power to bring down the cost of purchasing food each week. There are around 25 households regularly participating meaning that around 100 people a week are benefiting from the initiative every week. The Co-op uses collective decision making.

SOMALI LISTENING SESSIONS:
BRITISH LIBRARY

2023

As part of the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage Programme by The British Library, we arranged listening sessions with the community where archive recordings were played back and discussed. Many recordings sparked special memories particularly for the elders within the group which in turn sparked intergenerational discussion within the group. Some recordings triggered spontaneous singing from our group making the sessions very memorable.
